isle of wight motorcycle club

Isle of Wight Motocycle Club Boxing Day 2006 - Father and son event - held at Shorwell Chalk Pit.

The growing interest and popularity of the IOW motorcycle club & the sport of trials riding was emphasised at this years Trial when nearly 50 riders turned up to work off their Christmas dinners. A fine but cold day also brought many spectators to the Shorwell venue, and a chance to see some of the islands top riders in action. The main expert class was narrowly won by Will West from Newport who tied on points with ladies British champion Becky Cook but won the tie decider. One of the stars of the day was 15 year old Josh Stephens from St Helens who rode the main expert course for the lost of just 13 points, three lower than Will West. The intermediate class had a good entry and topping the class was Simon Morgan returning after a shoulder injury, who tied with EX island champion Alan Stay both with no marks lost.  An intermediate youth class had Jim West secure another win ahead of the young British champions George Gosden and Chris Stay who loved playing to the crowed in this fun event. Biggest entry was the novice class and this was topped by John Read who lost no marks with his two son's Nick & Ben also winning the youth novice and Beginner classes - it was a good day for the enthusiastic Read family. The more gentlemanly pre65 & twinshock class honours went to Nigle Crouch & Newchurch enthusiast Alan Gosden both long standing members of the club and still thoroughly enjoying their sport.  ALAN STAY
